1. Product Information

The INBONE™ Total Ankle System is a high performance modular prosthesis installed via the first and only intra-medullary alignment system. This is a major advancement for precise, reproducible installation and projected implant life. INBONE™ Technologies received FDA clearance by 510(k) in November of 2005. Since then over 200 ankles have been installed at leading institutions by world renowned surgeons.

2. Design Rationale

The INBONE™ Total Ankle System has been designed around the proven principles of total joint arthroplasty of the knee. First, both the tibial and talar components are well supported by stems of adjustable lengths for superior fixation. Secondly, vertical fixation allows less bone removal of the tibia and leaves the fibula intact and most of the medial malleolus. Third, the talar component matches the natural anatomy to minimize talar subsidence, minimize poly wear, and create natural and stable ankle motion. Fourth, the polyethylene has been thickened and the surface area maximized to lessen wear. Fifth, a fixed bearing system is better suited for the ankle especially if an accurate method is used to implant the total ankle. And finally an intramedullary guidance system has been developed for this ankle system to help insure reproducible and accurate bony cuts for proper alignment of the prosthesis.

Modular Tibial Stem - Customize the stem to your patients anatomy and/or deformities

  • Titanium Tip reduces stress shielding
  • Tapered top piece provides load disbursement
  • INBONE™ Technologies - The INBONE™ Total Ankle Replacement System
  • 12-18 mm diameter pieces
  • Ti plasma spray coating
  • Large surface area may improve fixation

Tibial Tray

  • 5 sizes in right and left
  • Trapezoidal shape saves the majority of medial malleolus and preserves all of the fibula

Poly Insert

  • Thickest poly available in total ankles to better disperse load
  • Larger contact area of the poly reduces the stress to the joint
  • 5 sizes

Talar Dome

  • Anatomical design with large surface area
  • May reduce subsidence
  • Produces stable and constrained articulation
  • Cobalt chrome

Talar Stem

  • 10 and 14 mm length options
  • Ti plasma spray coating for boney interference coating

FootHolder

  • The only total ankle intra-medullary guidance system
  • Guide rods determine exact alignment for primary drilling
  • Drilling is anterior to the posterior facet
  • Varus/Valgus corrections can be made with the turn of a knob
